Discernment counseling is rewarding ... but hard! Take advantage of low-pressure, high-value training and consultation services designed for the discernment counselor who wants to bring their own "clarity and confidence" to each couple they meet.

Insight Into Action: Master the Re-Launched Training!
At a shared pace, we independently go through the new course material; the group meeting will then offer a collaborative space to reflect on the latest insights and refinements in the model, while also building actionable skills. At times, we’ll step away from the formal material to engage in some (always voluntary) role-play exercises that bring clinical principles to life through dynamic, practice-based learning.

DC Foundations: Unpacking the "Why" Behind the Model
Based on the first 3 hours of the new training, we review the core assumptions that provide the foundation for all of discernment counseling to help participants apply the protocol with fidelity and confidence. Learning and remembering the protocol (and all its nuances) is SO much easier when you have a solid understanding of the WHYs behind it. This will be a group that fundamentally changes your confidence as a discernment counselor.

Case Consultations for Discernment Counselors
Individual Case Consultation
We’ve all been there…
You’re in the middle of a discernment case and suddenly realize, “I have never seen that before!” or “I have no idea what to do here!”
Individual consultation can be useful for novice discernment counselors, as well as more advanced clinicians who either want to hone their skills or are faced with one of those one-off scenarios.
You may also be interested in getting some guidance on how to market your DC practice and how to successfully present to potential referral sources. I’m happy to discuss ways we might work together.

Group Case Consultation
Small group consultation can be a uniquely rewarding way to learn any skill. Not only can you seek input on one of your own cases, you can also learn from hearing others present their cases.
Currently, I run only one ongoing group consultation which is specifically for PRE-certified discernment counselors (those who have completed the training and are seeing their first seven couples on the road to certification). The group is organized to be drop-in style - come when you want, but never feel obligated. If no one has a case to present, I will be prepared to present my own so that there is a meaningful learning experience each week.

Ginny is one of a handful of discernment counselors to train directly with Bill Doherty over the course of a year to earn the title of Discernment Counseling Master Practitioner. The title of Master Practitioner indicates specific training in providing case consultation and learning support to other discernment counselors.
