Free Webinar: Introduction to Discernment Counseling (1 CE hour)

Discernment counseling is the ONLY research-informed practice for helping mixed agenda couples on the brink of divorce.

What are mixed-agenda couples? These are couples where one person is strongly leaning out of the marriage and not interested in couples therapy while the other person is wanting to save the marriage and willing to work toward relationship repair through couples therapy.

Before Discernment Counseling, these couples had nowhere to go. They often jumped to divorce/separation despite ambivalence OR they jumped into couples therapy which is destined to failure if one person is not sure they want to make an effort for reconciliation.

What is Discernment Counseling?

  • It is short-term (one to five sessions) specifically designed to help mixed agenda couples.

  • The goal is increased confidence and clarity in decision making about the future of the marriage - we help reduce ambivalence!

  • We do this by helping each spouse gain a deeper understanding of what happened in the marriage and each person's contributions
